Pandora

I have lots and lots of things I need to post about. I'm going to start with the most recent and just work my way back.

Mother's day was decent yesterday. I only shed a few tears and that was just mainly while reading that poem from Jenn.

I slept in and Zach woke me up with a sweet card. He suggested we go to brunch but I wasn't really in the mood for breakfast food so we went to lunch instead.

At lunch the gave me 2 yellow carnations. Zach wasn't sure why they gave me two since most of the other tables only had one flower per female there. We finally decided that maybe those two flowers for our two angel babies. They are sitting in a vase on top of the entertainment center. It's was nice to get those yesterday.

We then went shopping. We went to look at puppies since that's something I always love to do. We also went to Old Navy and TJMaxx. I usually find something I love at TJMaxx but I didn't yesterday. Instead Zach found all the good deals.

We then went to Jared and picked out a Pandora bracelet. There are lots of things lately that are using Pandora. Pandora Jewelery, Pandora radio, and Pandora in Avatar. I was curious to see what Pandora meant. So here's what I found:

Pan.do.ra

–noun
Classical Mythology . the first woman, created by Hephaestus, endowed by the gods with all the graces and treacherously presented to Epimetheus along with a box (originally a jar) in which Prometheus had confined all the evils that could trouble humanity. As the gods had anticipated, Pandora gave in to her curiosity and opened the box, allowing the evils to escape, thereby frustrating the efforts of Prometheus. In some versions, the box contained blessings, all of which escaped but hope.

I found the last bit about hope very interesting. We picked out two beads for the bracelet yesterday. The first was the faith, love and charity bead for mother's day. The second was a jeweled bead with my birthstone since my birthday is this month.

I love my bracelet all ready and can't wait to add to it.

I will post again tomorrow! Have a great evening.

Derek has actually been playing a game on the PS3 called God of War 3 and Pandora, the box and the fact that hope is the only thing left in it are a big part of the plot in the game. They are actually a fun series of games to watch since it is rooted in mythology.
